Creative Lent resources for groups
Are you planning ahead and looking for something to do during Lent with your SCM group? Here are a few resources to help you on your way......
Rich Inheritance - Jesus' Legacy of Love (York Course)
An easy-to-use ecumenical course, with study booklet written by Bishop Stephen Cottrell. Comes with a CD with contributions from some fantastic theologians (Archbishop Vincent Nichols, Paula Gooder, Jim Wallis, Dr. David Hope and Inderjit Bhogal). See the York Courses website for more info.
Barefoot Disciple: Walking the Way of Passionate Humility by Stephen Cherry
The Archbishop of Canterbury's Lent Book 2011. Rediscovering humility as a healthy, life-giving and community-building virtue. Something to read together and discuss!
Seven Weeks for Water 2011: Water and Just Peace
Weekly meditations for the seven weeks of Lent. Examining the links between access to water, struggles over this precious resource, and building just peace. Each reflection comes with campaigning links and ideas for activities. Go to the WCC website for more info.
Ship of Fools: 40 Ideas for Lent
This has been around for a while but I've only just spotted it! A list of creative ideas for prayer, thought and action during Lent. Follow these individually or in a group - or why not create your own and post them on a blog so that others can follow them?
I invite you to share your own ideas, tips and resources for reflection during Lent on this blog or on the SCM forum thread! In fact, if we come up with enough suggestions we can have our very own SCM: 40 Ideas for Lent - there's a challenge for you!
