Our final contribution on the theme of the SCM annual conference 'With All Your Mind' comes from our Groups Worker Lizzie Gawen, who reflects on loving God through word, thought, and deed.

With All Your Mind

Uncover the hidden,

The real God that’s forbidden,

Is God a man or a woman?

Or is it in between them?

With all your mind.

Would God go on a slut walk?

Would she preach or would he talk?

Is God the seed or the stalk?

When you reach the road where it forks,

With all your mind.

Controlled and abused,

Gone to war, what’s the use?

If this is Church i’m confused,

Oh you know I’ve got the blues,

Coz I love my God of truth,

With all your mind.

Scratch University, pick up your chalk,

We love diversity,

Atheists, Catholics, Muslims and Commies,

Evangelicals, Women, Gays and even Brummies,

Because we’re all one family,

But we let fear divide us can’t you see?

With all your mind.

Cuts to education, knowledge is power,

It’s for everyone,

Not for those in suits and trousers,

I need to be like self-raising flour to rise and devour,

So I can empower my willpower,

To take on the superpowers in this hour,

With all your mind.

So come, soak, challenge, provoke,

Get your fire restoked,

Let’s keep hope a float,

Don’t gloat or go for the throat,

But instead devote… some time.

Some time to feel love and be kind,

Bridge the divide,

Melt the barriers of our tribes,

Reach out and heal broken lives,

With all your mind.

Oh yes we’re all one of a kind.

But it’s love that unites,

Us.

I can feel the passion inside,

I can hear the cries,

For a new way of life,

So will you join me on my journey,

With all of your mind?
