Abigail Hollingsworth

Standing for:

  • Trustee
  • Theology & Resources portfolio

Why are you standing for election to GC?

I have been involved with SCM for a few years now and I would love to be more involved in how the national movement is run.

I love SCM, and the community that we created at Southampton University, and that I have joined nationally, has been an amazing encouragement and blessing throughout my undergraduate degree, so I would love to give something back and help continue the movement in being a blessing to students across the country.

Why are you standing for election to GC?

On my second day of uni, I was invited along to the Cambridge branch of SCM by a very kind person I met in chapel. Throughout my first year, SCM was a place of loving and inclusive Christian community which I'd never experienced before. Having left the conservative church I grew up in, I can honestly say that if it weren't for SCM I probably wouldn't have ended up involved in faith much at uni. This academic year, I've loved co-presidenting Cambridge SCM and getting to know SCM more on a national level. A large part of why I'd like to stand for General Council is that I met several of the current General Council whilst volunteering at Greenbelt last year. First and foremost, I had such a wonderful time with everyone. Seeing the way in which General Council members were doing very different things across the board to serve their skill sets and the wider movement has encouraged me to see General Council as a way for members of SCM to contribute what they can to helping out with the Movement as a whole.

Why are you standing for election to GC?

Over the past 4 years, SCM has been a massive support to me personally and in making me feel more connected to my faith. I would love to be able to become more involved in the movement and be a part of running such an important organisation.

Joshua House

Standing for:

  • Trustee
  • Members & Groups portfolio
  • Safeguarding portfolio

Why are you standing for election to GC?

I would like to continue my role as Trustee - after two years of being on General Council I feel as though I've only just got to grips with being a trustee. It is a process that has taken me time to understand the formalities of, but at the end of these two years, I feel as though I have so much more to give. I would like to give more to SCM.

Joshua Mock

  • Trustee
  • Convenor Portfolio

Why are you standing for election to GC?

I have served on GC for the past two years and have absolutely loved it. It has been great to see the vision and mission of SCM expand and I'm excited to see how it will develop into the future. I'd like to serve on GC for another two years to continue the projects we've started and to continue being involved in the direction and vision of the movement.

Melody Lewis

Standing for:

  • Movement Editor portfolio

Why are you standing for election to GC?

I absolutely love the work that SCM does and I want to help continue this work and bring SCM to more students across the country. SCM has been so helpful in my transition to university in finding other Christians like me who often find themselves feeling left out of other Christian spaces.

Why are you standing for election to GC?

I think SCM does good work and is an important part of the Christian student world. I'd like to contribute to SCM to play my small part in continuing its mission.
