Move us to bring in your Kingdom

I was struck today by the words of a prayer for Christian Aid week: "Loving God, today, this week, this year, move us to bring in your Kingdom."

We are coming to the end of an academic year where, within SCM, in groups, in discussions, at conference and gatherings, we've been thinking about how we live out our faith.

For some, particularly those graduating this summer, and all who are grappling with choices and decisions - and trying to discern our calling - this will have been an unsettling time. I think perhaps the prayer above is something to carry with us. A reminder to be mindful and alert, each day, of the challenge and invitation that is there - to bring in God's kingdom.

On a Christian Aid related theme, Fr. Simon Tibbs of SCM-associate group XYmonday is about to walk a 350 mile pilgrimage from Edinburgh to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, Norfolk. Donations will go to Christian Aid and to Old Saint Paul’s Restoration and Renewal Appeal.

You can find out how to support him and follow his journey via Twitter and Facebook.

XYmonday is a group for young adults in central Edinburgh. The group meets most Mondays as well as at other times for a range of activities from simply meeting for banter and blether in pubs and cafes to hill walking, film nights, structured discussion, worship, quiet days and many other activities.

If you are a student in Edinburgh and looking for something SCM flavoured then do get in touch with the folk at XYmonday via Facebook or email: xymonday@gmail.com.
