Affiliated Link Membership
Chaplaincies and student groups can affiliate to SCM, and receive copies of Movement magazine, publicity materials and much more. They can also request visits from our Links Worker who likes nothing more than hopping on a train with one of her workshops (no really)! You can find out more about affiliation here.
SCM’s resources
SCM’s resources are designed to be used by students, but we hope chaplains will find them useful too. Go to the Resources section and browse our collection of liturgy, workshops and bible studies.
We welcome input and suggestions from chaplains as well as students. If you’d like to write something for Movement magazine, contribute to a resource or share something of interest with the rest of the network, please get in touch.
Sign up to e-news
Want to stay in touch with what’s going on at SCM? We send out a monthly e-newsletter which is full of relevant news, events, recommended resources and campaign actions. You can sign up to e-news online.
Local SCM groups are the life of the movement. Some groups focus on discussion and theology, others share regularly in prayer and worship, some are committed to campaigning and activism, some do a mix of all of these. What they have in common is that they are inclusive, welcoming places for exploring faith. If you are already part of a student group or a chaplaincy community that shares this vision or you want to get a group started then why not affiliate to SCM?
The SCM network is made up of local groups as well as individual members. There are two forms of group membership: affiliated and associate.
Affiliated membership is available to any group of students (including societies and chaplaincy groups) aged 16 or over based in an educational institution. Chaplains may also affiliate on behalf of students involved more informally in their chaplaincy. Local groups and affiliated chaplaincies are entitled to vote at General Meetings and receive publicity materials to display which show that they are part of the movement.
Associate membership is open to any group or network not officially attached to an educational institution – for example, church-based student groups or regional chaplaincy co-ordinators. Associates receive the same resources as affiliated links, but are not entitled to vote at General Meetings.
There are different levels of membership so that you can choose the one that is most appropriate for your needs.
| Level of membership | Annual fee for student groups or associates | Annual fee for chaplaincies | Copies of Movement each term |
| Seed | £20 | £25 | 1 |
| Shoot | £30 | £35 | 2 |
| Seedling | £45 | £60 | 5 |
| Tree | £90 | £100 | 10 |
