Breaking the ice
Hello and welcome to the new SCM forum!
If you want to say hi and introduce yourself please use this thread. Perhaps tell us three random things about yourself.
I'm Rosie - and I work for SCM in Birmingham as SCM's Links Worker, which means I support groups around the country and have responsibility for our events, like gatherings and conference.
I prefer my tea strong, no sugar with a dash of milk.
Around this time last year I shaved my head to raise money for HIV/AIDS charities and I'm quite impressed at how quickly my hair has grown back.
Hello!
I'm Alex and I'm on GC as looking after External Campaigns.
I work for a web design company in the real world and actually find Search Engine Optimisation interesting.
I wrote about how the women of the Old Testament are used and abused in history for my final year dissertation.
I love knitting and making things. I can knit you anything you might want, from a turtle to a hat that gives you a Viking beard.
Hello from Manchester
Hello all,
I'm Aileen and am the resource worker for SCM, which means I (you guessed it) write, and get others to write, resources for SCM groups and members.
I live in Manchester, where I am also the chaplaincy assisant at the chaplaincy that serves all the Manchester universities. I love this city, but am a Londoner by birth and accent.
As for tea, I don't do caffine at the moment but have a penchant for Roiboos Earl Grey with a splash of soya milk and a dollop of honey, yum!
Look forward to using this forum and getting some discussion/debate/banter going.
Peace be with you

Hello :)
Hi all
Hopefully at least some of you might have met me before. I'm the national coordinator, which means I try and coordinate things.
I like my tea weak with milk, and preferably rooibos rather than normal tea.
I thought 'breaking the ice' might be ideas for ice breaker games - a favourite topic of mine, so I'm going to try and start a new forum topic - wish me luck, never done this before!!
Hello!
Hello!
I'm David. I study Reconciliation at the Irish School of Ecumenics. (No, ecumenics isn't a word. The guy who founded the school just made it up).
Sometimes, when I remember to pay my fees, I'm a member of SCM.
I live in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Hi all I'm Tim, I'm the GC
Hi all
I'm Tim, I'm the GC member with the communications portfolio, meaning Movement magazine, the website and publicity.
I study politics and philosophy and York which means I am posting this at the moment as an excuse not to be reading any more of Rousseau's Discourse on the Origin of Inequality which is halfway through boring me out of my skull.
I don't drink Tea or Coffee or any hot drinks, not because I don't like them but because I've just never got into the habit of it and don't find them that amazing that I want to start.
Hullo, I'm Joe, the Northeast
Hullo,
I'm Joe, the Northeast regional worker for SCM and I'm based in Leeds. I also coordinate the gender policies of the European region of the World Student Christian Movement. If you want to get involved in WSCF or live in the northeast and want to get involved in SCM, give me an email on northeast@movement.org.uk.
I like all kinds of tea but my favourite thing right now is fairtrade filter coffee.
I can't remember what information you needed from me so here are some random facts:
I like to play Civilisation 4 and can pretty much conquer the world with my eyes closed. I think this how I channel my aggression.
I like to think I am a pacifist (I know the irony).
I stood outside number 10 Downing Street yesterday.
My favourite animals are dogs.
Shalom folks,
Joe
Hello
Hello, I'm Greg. It's probably a bit late to break the ice, since a lot of it seems to be melting now. I'm a perpetual student in York, doing a PhD in electronics. I'm an evangelical who's been known to vote Tory, so I know I fit right in ... at least I've got the standard postgrad caffeine addiction to help me.
My Blog
Hello
Hello.
I'm Rachel and I used to be on GC many moons ago when Rosie and Matt were.
I live in Ghana and am procrastinating this afternoon - I should be cleaning but it's far too hot. I'm working for VSO as a Teacher Support Officer.
I really really like tea, particularly along with some chocolate, but in Ghana it gets a bit hot drinking tea so I only have it once a day normally. I have to use powdered milk so I either have it with powdered milk or weak and black. I have about 93 Earl Grey teabags that were a present from someone. I hope to get through them by the time I leave Ghana.
And I'm not going to say anything about green jam.
Rachel

Welcome to all who have posted! Hope you enjoy exploring the rest of the forum and the new site. Please do start conversations, post ideas / questions etc, read the blog and make comments.
And if you are new, and lurking, why not introduce yourself here!
Hello
I am Zoe. I am a member of High Pavement (Unitarian) Chapel in Nottingham. I am a part-time student at Leicester University (or rather WITH Leicester as I am on a distance-learning programme) doing a Master's degree in Museum Studies.
It's a big year for us because in April, Nottingham University is hosting our denomination's Annual Meetings. Also, our minister has just left us to work in Hinckley, which is a bit disconcerting but it does give us the chance to invite more ministers/lay leaders/guest speakers to take services for us or at least join in the ones that we organise. So, if you live fairly near to us and you'd like to come and help us out, please get in touch with me.
Hello
Hi Zoe,
Welcome to the forum! Hope you enjoy your time here.

Better late than never I
Better late than never I suppose.
I'm George - I'm the Regions person on the General Council.
From London orginally, but Glasgow's my home now. Generally a medical student, but spending a year indulging my passion for Public Health.
I like stripy tights and ginger beer. Gratuitous addition of whey powder angers my vegan sensibilities.
Yep, that whey powder gets
Yep, that whey powder gets EVERYWHERE!
