Interfaith Meditation Weekend

Date:
Fri, 25/11/2011 (All day) - Sun, 27/11/2011 (All day)

This November the World Community of Christian Meditation (WCCM), Wake Up and young Quakers and will come together for a weekend to share being young and meditative at Milton Keynes Friends (Quaker) Meeting House.
Wake Up are a group of 16-30 year old Buddhist and non-Buddhists who want a healthy and compassionate society. They practice meditation, mindfulness and community as taught by Thich Nhat Hanh, a renowned Vietnamese Zen master.
Quakers are a tradition rooted in Christianity who share a way of life, rather than a creed. Founded in the C17th, Quakers worship in silence and are deeply committed to social activism.
Many young Quakers are involved in ‘Young Friends General Meeting’, a group of 18-30ish year olds who come together to live as a community for three residential weekends a year.
The WCCM was founded by a Benedictine monk called Father John Main and are now under the leadership of another - Father Lawrence Freeman. They practice meditation using the Christian mantra ‘Maranatha’ which is Aramaic for ‘Lord, come’. They’ve got a vibrant and active community of young people interested in Christian contemplation.
The weekend will incorporate a range of practices and activities from each tradition alongside times to share about our experiences and to have some fun!
