Movement 2018: Gifts of Grace
SCM Glasgow will be offering a warm welcome this spring at Wellington Church, as we come together to explore what it means to encounter Gifts of Grace in our lives. The planning of this event started with students wanting to take seriously all the hard questions surrounding forgiveness. We live in a divisive political landscape, with many vulnerable groups feeling increasingly under attack in the wake of Brexit and Trump, and as Christians, it can be hard to find a place for grace and forgiveness right now.
We want to explore the questions: What does Jesus mean by turning the other cheek, and when is it called for? How do we square the gospel’s message of forgiveness with a hunger and thirst for justice and liberation? We hope this gathering will be a safe space for people to grapple with these questions and learn more about what forgiveness looks like in everyday life.
We'll be exploring our theme through workshops, speakers, prayer and worship. There will be delicious food on offer, times to chill and get creative, as well as a chance to get to know like-minded students.
The weekend will begin with SCM's Annual General Meeting, which is your opportunity to find out what has been happening over the past year and to elect new representatives to SCM's General Council. On Friday evening we'll also be holding our fourth annual SCM Awards and celebration dinner - could you be our member of the year?
