This prayer was used at SCM retreats and conferences over 90 years ago. I think it beautifully reflects the spirit of the early generation of SCMers, seeking to discover God's will for their lives. It remains a prayer we can all use in our own exploration and discernment....

For Guidance of Choice

O God of light and truth,
may Thy Holy spirit direct
all those who are in doubt and perplexity;
let them faithfully consider
what is required of them,
that they may see their duty
in the settled purpose
of doing what they believe
to be most acceptable to Thee.
Help them to omit nothing
in order to be rightly impressed
and wisely directed,
and then strengthen them to walk bravely
in the love of Thy will,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
