Council of Reference
The trustees of the Student Christian Movement (SCM) are looking for advisors to join their Council of Reference.
As a student led movement, the board of trustees is made up of students and recent graduates. The Council of Reference is an advisory body for the trustees, providing support with strategy, finance and charity management. We are particularly looking for people with experience in the area of finance management, including investments.
We welcome and encourage applications from people with disabilities, people from ethnic minority backgrounds, people with dependents or caring responsibilities, and other groups under-represented in the charity sector. As an ecumenical organisation, we seek to reflect the diversity of Christian churches in Britain across the organisation.
The Council of Reference meets three or four times per year, usually early afternoon on a Friday. All reasonable expenses are covered. Meeting dates are set at least 18 months ahead and Council of Reference members serve for a term of three years.

Join the Movement magazine editorial group – Do you have an interest in journalism, or an idea for the next theme of Movement magazine? Are you a keen writer, or just curious about what goes in to publishing a magazine? We’re looking for a team of students to help plan content, commission articles and conduct interviews for future issues. To find out more email the Editor.
Help us plan an event – Want to have your voice heard in how we run our future events, and get some practical experience in how to plan, prepare, run and evaluate the variety of events SCM runs throughout the year? Maybe you'd like to host an event for students in your area, or would like to get involved in planning our national gathering? Join our events team! We’re looking for students to help plan the programmes for our events, act as hosts and to lead worship at gatherings. Contact the office to sign up!
Spread the word about SCM - Fancy spending some of your time at festivals and events talking to people about how great SCM is? We're looking for volunteers to help spread the SCM joy at festivals and conferences across the year. If you're interested, get in touch with Lisa for more information.
Help out in the SCM office - Are you looking to give something back to your community, or to develop new skills? We're always looking for volunteers to help out in the SCM office, particularly to help out with administrative tasks and keeping the website up to date. If you have some spare time and would like to help out behind the scenes, please contact Lisa - full training and support will be provided, and all expenses will be covered.
