What is SCM Summer School?
Summer School is our main training event for students from universities across the UK; from SCM local groups and other Christian student groups, as well as individuals who are interested and excited about being part of a movement for change.
At Summer School you will have the opportunity to:
- Grow in confidence to support your student group next year
- Learn new skills: from using social media and event planning, to fundraising and public speaking
- Share ideas for putting together an exciting and varied programme
- Find out how SCM can support your group with resources and visits
- Learn from Christian Aid how to run successful campaigns
- Hear talks from inspiring theologians and speakers
Speakers confirmed so far: Revd Prof Michael Taylor on 'The bearers of good news: how can we be a movement for change?' , and Dr Tina Beattie on ‘Justice, Hope and Wisdom: faithful Christian witness in a suffering world’.
This year we are delighted to be partnering with Christian Aid, who will be running workshops on campaigning and helping us to explore the connections between our faith and justice.
Summer School is free for two members of each SCM affiliated student group and SCM student reps. Book your place before Thursday 31 May. After this, places will be allocated to all students on a first come, first served basis at £20.
We will also be holding our Annual General Meeting during the day on the 16 July which will be your opportunity to have a say in how the movement is run - all are welcome!
Keep the dates in your diary and look out for your invite in your summer mailing. If you have any questions about Summer School, please contact Chris on chris@movement.org.uk
