Training for groups
SCM affiliated groups and chaplaincies can call on SCM for support, training and advice. If you are starting a new group from scratch, you’ve just changed over committee, or simply want to learn some new skills, then contact the SCM office (scm@movement.org.uk) and we’ll come and run some free training with you. We can tailor the training to what suits you best, whether on your own as a group, with other groups on campus or with other SCM affiliated groups in your region. Things we can help with include:
- Running meetings and committees
- Group dynamics
- Leading a Bible Study
- Facilitating discussions
- Networking and relating to others on campus
- Preparing for Freshers Week
- Publicity and website
- Social Justice campaigning
- Planning and leading worship
- Inter faith dialogue
- Anything else that you think would be useful! If we don’t know how to do it, we’ll find someone who does.
Calling all SCMers
If you’ve been part of an SCM group and/or have skills to offer, and would like to get involved with training for local groups, contact Rosie (links@movement.org.uk).
Visits and workshops
If you are an affiliated group or chaplaincy you can also ask SCM’s Links Worker to visit and run a workshop, bible study or discussion group, or simply tell you more about SCM and how you can get involved.
Topics could include:
- SCM’s current year theme
- SCM’s history and vision
- Body image
- Christianity and the environment
- What is mission?
- Social justice
- Images of Christ
Our Links Worker is also happy to visit more informally, to catch up with groups and find out more about your challenges, hopes and ideas.
Looking for a speaker?
We are putting together a list of people who are willing to speak or lead workshops for SCM groups and links. We can recommend organisations and speakers if you are looking for a particular theme. Please get in touch with our Links Worker if there is something we can help with links@movement.org.uk
