Our vision and mission

SCM is a student led community passionate about faith and justice.

We have a long history of bringing students together to explore how to live out a radical faith in today's world.

We envision Christianity as inclusive, aware, radical and challenging. This means:

  • We welcome all people, because diversity is a gift to be celebrated.
  • We campaign against injustice and violence. Faith and social justice are inseparable.
  • We think through our faith to ensure that it remains relevant and dynamic.
  • We engage with political and social issues as a prophetic voice for change.

SCM's structure

SCM is a member-led and member-run organisation. We have groups around the country as well as individual members and friends. Each year there is an election from within the membership to choose the General Council. General Council are the people who make things happen, they run the organisation with some help from the staff. The other group of people worth mentioning are the Council of Reference, with whom Staff and General Council consult regularly about the movement and its work.
