After hosting the 'Ace & Faith' Event with Ace Space LDN, Cat reflections on the discussions had. The event was a beuatiful display of unity and Ace joy as we started an important conversation but also raised the importance of increased understanding, acceptance and affirmination of Ace folks within religious spaces as, afterall, we are EXACTLY who God made us! As my time at SCM is coming to an end, I’ve been reflecting a lot on how I came to this role as a Faith in Action Project Worker and why. I have come to realise that I haven’t shaped my own activism through research and knowledge; my life experiences have shaped my activism. I am from a large, majority working class, former heavy industry town in the north west of England. We have vast socio-economic issues, cultural divides, issues of racism and racial violence, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and Othering of those who are not ‘British enough’.

Pensions! I can’t say that before my recent team up with the JustMoney Movement that pensions are something I regularly thought about, and definitely not something I thought I could use in my social justice actions. Being 23 and only recently-ish joining the real world, pensions came up on my radar as something I should probably know about… but didn’t. It was also not necessarily something I was going to spend my time learning about because, well honestly, I thought it was for real adults to concern themselves with (we can debate on whether or not I’m a real adult at another point).
