We believe faith and justice are inseparable. We aim to be a movement for change, participating in God’s kingdom of peace, justice and hope.
How does your faith influence the way that you see the world? How can we as Christians respond to issues of social justice in our communities, and in the world? Whether you're a seasoned activist or a campaigning novice, SCM can help you to explore the issues and equip you to put your faith into action.
The use of direct and noticeable action to achieve a result, usually a political or social one.
Activism isn't all about joining protest marches and waving placards. It can be about pledging to change your lifestyle to reduce your impact on the environment, or creating a piece of art with a subversive message like in Craftivism. We know that campaigning can be daunting, so we have lots of resources and support available.
SCM groups can book workshops about putting your faith into action, including prayer, discipleship and faith reflection. Go to the Book A Visit page for details.
We have lots of resources about liberation theology, activism and the life and writings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer in our resources section. You can also read about how students are living out their calling and taking action against injustice, and see Emma’s reflections on Bonhoeffer, faith, and following Jesus over on the SCM blog.
The Faith in Action Project is a partnership with Project Bonhoeffer.
