Headline Speaker - Amanda Mukwashi, Christian Aid

Born in the U.K. and of Zambian heritage, Amanda is a committed Christian and member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was appointed as CEO of Christain Aid in April 2018, a charity whose work fighting poverty and injustice have made them a household name amongst many Christian circles. She studied law at the University of Zambia and has a master's degree in International Economic Law from the University of Warwick. We're really excited to hear her thoughts on prayer and pilgrimage that she'll be sharing with us on the Saturday morning!

Jessica Dalton and Joanne Collins, Christian Solidarity Worldwide

Jess is a previous member of SCM and works for Christian Solidarity Worldwide, who support and stand with people who are facing violations of their religious freedom, and train and equip those facing religious freedom violations to advocate for their rights themselves. Joanne is parliamentary officer at CSW, and her role is to enchance the charity's presence and advocacy in Parliament. Joanne also undertakes and supports the vital human rights research which underpins CSW’s advocacy work.

Jasmine Yeboah, Methodist Youth President

Jasmine is currently serving as the Methodist Youth President 2018-2019. She has a passion for worship, and will also be sharing her thoughts on the theme for her year in office, 'Courageous'. 

Alice Brien, Student Cross

Student Cross is a Christian pilgrimage organised by and for students, young adults, and pilgrims of all ages, which began in 1948. It takes place during Holy Week each year, and offers an opportunity to celebrate Easter in a really unique way. Alice Brien is the National Director of Student Cross 2019. She graduated from Newcastle University in 2015, and has taken part in Student Cross both as a student and graduate. For her, Student Cross became an extension of her chaplaincy community, and helped her to grow in her faith. She can't imagine a better way to celebrate Easter now!

Revd Fr James Siemens

Fr James is a Ukrainian preist who will join us to share from his unique perspective as the Chaplain to Eastern Christians and an Honorary Research Fellow of Cardiff University. He also is the director of Theotokos Institute for Catholic Studies.

Revd Matt Davis

Matt is currently ministering in east Cardiff as curate in the Anglican church. He lives with his wife Jess, their children Clara and Orson and lots of animals. In his spare time he enjoys making homebrew, creating things out of wood, live music, going on outdoor adventures, and generally creating chaos and mess with his daughter! As a big lover of coffee he is always happy to chat over a cup. We are very glad to have Matt as both our Chaplain and Bible Study Leader. 

Symon Hill

Symon is an activist and journalist who attracted widespread media attention in 2011 for walking from London to Birmingham on a pilgrimage of repentance for homophobia.

Adam Spiers

Adam is an SCM member, who studied Theology at Durham University, who has walked the Camino de Santiago, a famous pilgrimage route in Spain.

Helena Ripley

Helena is a member of SCM's General Council, the student body of trustees that lead SCM. We're excited to hear her thoughts from her time visiting the Isle of Iona in Scotland, a place famous for pilgrimage. 

Mark Joselin 

Mark is a Methodist, an SCM Member and chair of the recently founded Inclusive Christian society at the University of Birmingham. He will be chairing the Pilgrimage Panel.  

Laura Hundert 

Laura is a current SCM member, and studies in her first year at the Royal Conservetoire of Scotland, she brings her passion for Harry Potter to our late night Bible Study. 

Taylor Driggers

Taylor is a member of SCM Glasgow and a PhD student researching feminism and theology in fantasy literature.

Emma Temple

Emma is SCM's Faith in Action Lead, has a passion for craftivism, and is looking forward to working with our partners at Christian Aid doing some direct action lobbying banks to divest from fossil fuels.

Rob Chivers

Rob is the SCM Connect Project Worker and has been working for SCM since 2017. Rob's background is in youthwork and worship. He heads up running SCM's Instagram (@studentchristianmovement) and is part of the communications team, although hes not very good at selfies. You may recognise him from SCM's 'Lent 40' and the '130 Challenge' adverts.
