SCM is amazing and we want everyone to know about us! You can help us to ensure that every student can find an inclusive and welcoming student community and be inspired to put their faith into action by spreading the word about us!
Volunteer with us
Volunteers bring valuable skills, experience and ideas to SCM and help to enhance the support we can provide to students. We are always looking for volunteers to support our work in the office in Birmingham, speak about SCM's work in churches and at events, and to contribute to resources.
Whether you can give a few hours a month, or are looking to gain work experience in a busy small charity, we'd love to hear from you! Please contact us.
Council of Reference
SCM's Council of Reference acts as an advisory body to the General Council, which is made up of students and recent graduates. We are always looking for new members, so if you feel you have skills and experience that would benefit SCM, or would like more information, please get in touch with our CEO by email. We are particularly looking for people with expertise in the areas of fundraising, theology, membership development, ministry with young people and students, chaplaincy, and marketing.
We welcome and encourage applications from people with disabilities, people from ethnic minority backgrounds, people with dependents or caring responsibilities, and other groups under-represented in the charity sector. The Council of Reference usually meets three times per year, and all reasonable expenses are provided.
Share our resources
Sign up for and share our monthly e-newsletter with your friends, include a paragraph or a prayer in your church newsletter, put up a poster or leave copies of Movement magazine at the back of your church. You can order resources by emailing the office.
Young people can order a Freshers' Pack full of useful resources to help them prepare for university, including our Going to Uni guide. You can find the order form here. To order a set of Freshers' Packs for your youth group please contact the office.
Invite a speaker to your church or event
We'd love to come and speak to your church about SCM's work and how you can support us. Simply contact the office and we can arrange a time and date to suit you.
